Bloomsburg Rolls Past Millersville in Field Hockey

MILLERSVILLE -- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team improved its record to 12-1 with an 8-2 win over Millersville Wednesday afternoon.
The Huskies had three players, Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood), Liz Macready (Denver/Cocalico), and Maggey Bloskey (Danville/Danville) with two goals each in the game. For Heckard, it was her eighth and ninth goals in the last four games.
In addition, Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) and Brieann Wolfe (Perkasie/Pennridge) each added one goal with Whitney Miller (Lancaster/Penn Manor) and Ashley Miller (Shermans Dale/ West Perry) leading the way with two assists each.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead in the game, just 1:51 into play, when Heckard converted off a penalty corner with Miller getting the assist. Bloomsburg would tack on four more goals in the opening half to lead 5-0 at the break, then, added three more to lead 8-0. The Marauders scored twice in the last eight minutes to make the final, 8-2.
Bloomsburg is now 12-1, 8-1 in the PSAC, while Millersville falls to 4-9, 2-7 in the PSAC. The Huskies host IUP on Saturday at noon.
